Hello? A Very General Introduction.

My name is Emily, and I'm currently 18 years of age. I'm a first-year at a small (public) liberal arts college, which I chose for size, flexibility, and support of intellectual thought. (That sounds so pretentious; I'm sorry. I just like that it's a school where I'll be forced to think and where I'll get a lot of individualized attention.)
I like too many things to count, I think, which is reflected in my current course schedule: Physics, Physics lab, Modern Varieties of Judaism, Russian, Intro to Psychology, and Intro to Social Problems. For a while I wanted to be a published novelist. Then I decided that I wanted to be an astrophysicist, or maybe a medical researcher. Right now, I think that I'd love to be a park ranger. There's no telling how long this plan will last...maybe for a few years, or perhaps only for a few weeks.
For fun, I play the viola. On occasion I go rock- or mountain-climbing, because I have an awesome dad who likes to do those sorts of outdoorsy things. I've also begun recently fencing, which mostly means footwork and learning how to parry at this point.
Other Things That I Like (Even Though I Told You That There Were Too Many Earlier):

Other Things That I Like (Even Though I Told You That There Were Too Many Earlier):
- Religion -
- Reading - Good books, particularly. Things that are well-written, and stories that somehow speak to me or are otherwise worthy of being told. Favorite authors include: Roald Dahl, Madeleine L'Engle, Italo Calvino (although I've only ever read translations), Philip Pullman, James Herriot, and Douglas Adams. Among others.
- The Type of Physics That One Learns About When One Reads Books Like The Elegant Universe - Gravity, relativity, quarks, string theory? Awesome.
- Systems - This one is a little more difficult to explain, but I like considering things within an overall structure, whether it be mathematical, social, or otherwise.
- Kitschy Sci-fi movies. MST3K-type material.
